Tom Holland used Zendaya’s middle name during a red carpet exchange at the Rome premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The moment happened Tuesday, June 23, while Zendaya was speaking with a reporter. Holland called out “Maree!” from nearby, according to People.
Zendaya turned toward him and answered, “Yeah?” Holland then asked, “What’s the name of that place?”
She answered, “Giolitti’s,” referring to the well-known Rome gelateria and pastry shop. After answering Holland, Zendaya turned back to the reporter and said, “That’s where I’m going after this.”
Holland Called Out Zendaya’s Middle Name on the Carpet
Zendaya’s full name is Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman. InStyle noted that Holland used “Maree” instead of “Zendaya” or her familiar nickname “Z.”
Holland and Zendaya have spent years keeping most of their relationship away from interviews, even while promoting the Spider-Man franchise together.
The Moment Came After Holland Confirmed They Are Married
The Rome clip followed Holland’s recent Esquire U.K. interview, where he addressed AI-generated images that falsely appeared to show him and Zendaya at a wedding.
People reported that Holland was asked whether he had warned family members about the fake images. “No, because they were all there,” he replied. “That’s all you’ll get on that.”
Entertainment Weekly reported that Holland later described Zendaya as his best friend and said she makes him feel supported and safe.
Zendaya and Holland Are Back on the Red Carpet Together
The Rome premiere came after Holland and Zendaya’s June 15 appearance at the Madrid premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. People reported that Madrid marked their first joint red carpet appearance in four years.
In Rome, Zendaya wore a vintage Giorgio Armani gown from the fashion house’s spring/summer 1990 ready-to-wear collection, according to InStyle. The black dress featured a beaded spiderweb design and sequin arachnid details.
Holland wore a merlot-colored suit with a matching tie, white shirt and glossy black dress shoes. InStyle reported that the two held hands and posed together during the event.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day brings Holland and Zendaya back to the franchise where they first worked together. Holland plays Peter Parker, while Zendaya returns as Michelle “M.J.” Jones.
People reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in theaters July 31. The pair also appear in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which opens July 17.
