Same boat. I'm not alone.
My parents are in their late 70's and still live in a massive waterfront property with two cars, a boat, trailer, etc. Its full of junk they've hoarded over a long period of time.
As they're now too old to take responsibility for their property, I'm forever over there wasting my time trimming their bushes, moving things around or doing repairs as they're too old to do it themselves. Given i hold down a full time job, this isn't fair, and is very exausting.
When you're too old to manage your property, it's time to downsize and match your house to your abilities.
Large homes also contain many hazards for seniors with stairs, slippery driveways, etc.
I'm a minimalist, myself who lives in an apartment, and don't even own a car.
When you have less, you have less to worry about. You are better off financially, mentally and physically. You are happier.
When you die, your mansion, boats and three SUV's won't come with you.
Thank you for sharing ❤
Awesomeness. Congratulations
I really love this video
Take the leap! It’s just stuff and more space to clean and pay taxes on.
Thank you for sharing your downsizing story! So relevant and always will be. ❤
People keep telling me to sell my house and want to shove me into a smaller house. Well… this is technically my childhood home I inherited so that's one reason I'm so stubborn. Another is I'm not happy in this area but I have no way to move to another city. I had to ask, why? The answer is maybe people are thinking by downsizing that'll put money in my pocket since I'm struggling so hard to pay bills and keep my cats fed. But at the same time I don't think it's wise to slap a For Sale sign on my home without having the opportunity to see what's available. I don't want to sell my house and then be like, now what? I don't want to end up with something that's not what I want while still being stuck in a place I'm not happy with. No one wants to work with me or show me properties even though I'd be in the market to buy. So we're at a stalemate.
I want to down size and be debt/mortgage free – have for years ! We have downsized but to a lovely small town where we got a 2 bed for the same price as we sold our 3 bed in the city. I would have to move away to get mortgage free and have some money left over …miles away from my two adult children and the few friends I have- its too expensive where I live – do I live here, close to my kids the most impt thing in the world to me, or do I move flying distance away and be mortgage free and have money to enjoy life b4 I die ?? I don't see my kids a lot, but one has just moved into our small town and I love having him 5 minutes away and the other one is 2 hour drive away. But we do not have extra money to do much of anything – we cannot travel, do fun things etc…we just pay the bills 🙁 We have a one income family. We are trying to get the mortgage paid off b4 the one wage earner retires.
Thank you for sharing!!!! Awesome thank you.!!!! ♥️
