that is a sub optimal life. spend your money on travel, experiences to make life richer, not on material things as much as possible. if you die with millions left over, you lost.

I can relate so much to what ur saying because im doing very similar things to how ur doing it, and its a great way! it works for you, it works for me, it might not work for some.. And thats okay because they might have their own methods to make it work for them self.

I saw the thumbnail and am here before watching the video in full. The thumbnail said, "having money is better than spending money." In my opinion, and personal experience, I think quite the opposite. "Having no money" is best, because then there's nothing to spend. The more money I have, the more I'm tempted to buy many things, and even bigger things with a larger price tag. The less money I have, I'm unlikely to purchase anything, or at least buy smaller less valuable things, because I won't have much to spend. Having money, leads to temptation. Having little or no money, or at least enough to cover expenses, works for me because then I spend less; I just simply don't have it. "Having money" helps with security, and when unexpected expenses come up, but to say it's "better than spending money"? I'm not so sure about that. Though, opinions may vary depending on whether you value purchasing physical items/vacationing. "Spending money" is inevitable, and I mean besides bills. Now, I'll watch the video and maybe come back if I feel the need.

If you speak of still investing on index funds and just „forgetting about it“, I cannot follow you. This speaks to you not understanding the phases or either business cycles or the debt cycles.

I am glad that we share similar thoughts on how we view money.

-fancy things = money gone (a car is a car)
    -let's not starve to death
    -medicare
-set aside monet that i can't touch
    -keep some money on hand
-keep a track of the invested money but not be finicky with it.
    -Try beating inflation.
    -sceptical of all commercials.
-HELP FUTURE ME. ALWAYS. FORVER. THAT'S ALL FOREVER.

Something i do in a job front:

Ask my company to keep aside money in my pension fund so that I can't see it on my salary account to begin with. That way I am not tempted to spend it from the get go.

I think saving money should be easy. Dont think about it, save on daily basis. And it is hardest part. I dont like for example cold turkey method, when you are forced to save, think about it all the time, and think about it as sacrifice. I believe in small changes that pay off in big way over time. To focus on your needs. What you really need. If you need computer, because you play a lot, that is fine. But dont use money to buy temporal happiness, just wants. It is nice to have something from time to time, and you can do this once you start saving money. But people spen too much on stuff they dont even need. I hate comments like "i'm too poor, i cant save money!". Put 5 dollars on account/under mattress once a month. After month – you saved 5 dollars. You can still use 5 dollars. Now put 50 dollars. 100. "100 it is not much!" but next time you will need extra money you just use this cash instead of high interest loans. But my main goal was to create investing portfolio. To use saved money for investment. It is where real fun started.

My Grandmother had a saying, "look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves" pounds is the currency in the UK.. But how that translated was, as kids we saved up the pennies, put them in a jar, and when the jar was full we had some of the paper stuff… its a good way to learn kids the saving principle..

I’m like you I like to save rather than spend. On SS I knew there was going to be some kind of problem when trump took over. SS is my only income. I’m debt free, car pd off so most of my money I can save. I put a few hundred in my savings account and what I have left over at the end of the month I put in savings. I have $1000 owed to me because two of my friends really needed help. I’m not a stingy person . I have enough to pay my bills for another year, it might just take that long with greedy Trump and Elon having excess to the treasury debt. I don’t trust banks anymore with Doge having access to my bank information. I have been warning my friends to save their money, trouble is on the horizon. Buy mostly what you need and very little of what you want. Credit score 829, went down a little because I don’t buy anything on credit, no debt. Good advice you are giving.
