I dumped SCHD and invested everything into various NEOS etf's. Couldn't be happier. SCHD was total shit.
Schd is a turd…. rises slower than S&P, falls a lot faster…
Great analysis of SCHD’ history
Lol SCHD is still down. JEPQ and VYM just doing better and paying better dividends. They grow and pay what's not to like.
nope. schd is a turd. schg is good, schx is good…
Keeping my SCHD shares but not adding to them. Instead, adding to new position in FDVV, 13.22 % return to date and 2.98% yield.
Be greedy when others are fearful – some random old dude
SCHD is actually a dirty swear word in my house. What a major mistake. It's like a bad relationship..Holding onto it is like hoping a bad relationship is going to get better. Yes, Tech is King now. But I think we are in the Hay-Day of tech. All the money I've lost waiting for the anchor ball and chain to get lighter… : {
Dumping the dog tomorrow am- Putting money into SPMO, FXAIX, DGRO, CGDV, and DGRO
I'm just starting my self investment journey, so half of my portfolio will be your 3 ETFs then the rest will be some high risk stuff you would probably advise against… but hey, I'm like that, I need to FA before I FO.
Why would they overweight energy?
Should we not consider more than just end of year? For example SCHD drawdown was near 35% in March of 2020 and didn't really recover till end of year.
I know it's extremely unlikely but just hypothetically speaking, if Charles Schwab were to become insolvent or go bankrupt (similar to Lehman Brothers in 2008), what would happen to the SCHD ETF? I know there is SIPC insurance so would we at that point receive a cash equivalent and need look at other investment funds? I only just discovered your channel by the way. The content is very informative and helpful, thank you. 👍
Stop giving bad advice
I have over 15,000 shares…and I'm holding. Tech and AI have ruled 2025 and SCHD doesn't have much exposure to the high-growth names. I like this and use it to balance other holdings such as the VOO. I get paid to wait, I like the low volatility and see nothing wrong with it being a core holding. I currently have 18% of my portfolio allocated to it and will be adding on weakness. Investing is a long game and constantly watching videos on whether or not you should "pull the plug" just shows how very few people have the cognitive ability to be good investors. Diversify if you're concerned, but the last thing I would ever do is sell. For example, I no longer add to the VOO…drip is on and it just does its thing and I have a high allocation for that one etf because it works. I reallocated my future savings for voo to vtv value and others for now. I'll build a 5-10% allocation to overall portfolio in some new holdings and move on. I own alot, but the key word there is "own" – not trade, not hold, not play with or talk about….just own and go watch a movie. Also, here's a tip: don't own individual stocks unless you have money to burn. One scandal or misstep and you're done. I own several (cvx, hd, ibm, wmt, ko) but only the big guys that I actually like. Owning individual stocks for the person with 10k is like pissing in the wind. Buy the voo (or literally any other etf) and sleep at night.
I think there should be something like SCHD but for growth minded people like with defensive holdings kind of like UPRO with 3x but with the same holdings as SCHD I think that would really help with the growth crowd and the dividend crowd equally
PLEASE verify what is price of one chare of SCHD itis 26 dollars or 79 dollars urgent please ??????????????
As someone who is in my 50's and early retired seeking income over growth, SCHD with it's limited NAV appreciation and 3.67% yield is making less sense when compared to NEOS's SPYI 12%. NEOS is one of the CC companies that focuses on monthly income while maintaining NAV and so far has delivered since it's inception exactly three years ago.
I was about 90% growth when I was employed and adding to my portfolio. When I retired and started paying my self with my investments, a much more balanced approach made sense. SHHD
Professor, I put exactly the same 6 figure amount in SCHD and FVV on the same day. I have the luxury of not needing money from either fund anytime for the next 4 or so years. I’ll carefully look at both in 2 years, and do what makes sense with the stock dividend portion of my investments.
I have 2.6 million in invested assets. Wife has 1 million. Combined household net worth is 5.5 million. I have 115k pension. Wife has 90k pension. I am only 50. Retired at 46. Work part time making 50-75k for 2-3 days a month. We gross 120k in rental income. NO debt. Im heavy in growth 2.2 million. When should I invest in a dividend fund? I dont need the money at all. I figure I'd build build build for at least 5 to 7 years. Then start moving into more stable investments that produce dividends.
Why is it, or any etf or stock down? I wonder if there's an elephant in this room…
Good stuff. I'm going to stick with SCHD. Thank you Dr
G!
A two fund portfolio of 50% VGT + 50% SCHD has outperformed the Vanguard S&P500 ETF since the inception date of both VGT and SCHD. Consider long-term when comparing fund performance.
August 22, 2025 UPDATE: SCHD is at +2.6%. 😃
Thanks for the video. I needed some positive vibes. QQQ, SCHD, and VOO for the long term.
great share
dividend investing kind of stupid IMO lol
Not a lot of ppl talk about VICI great dividend percentage
For those who have lost patience wSCHD, a nice alternative is the mutual fund VEIPX is low risk for a stock mutual fund and part of the Kiplinger 25.
I'm an aggressive investor so I don't invest in funds like schd. When I get closer to retirement in 20 years I'll put a bunch in cgdv. I like that fund more then schd
Never understood the facination with SCHD…so many videos, makes me wonder if the team behind SCHD pays to have it endorsed on social media. I've made and continue to make more with other etfs, but up to you and your preference. Just don't be influence by all these SCHD videos, do your own research….you'll find other options too.
Let people sell their SCHD, so I can buy them at a lower price.
I switched. There are better dividend paying stocks with higher growth.
People are buying and selling
It’s disappointing to see SCHD drop like it’s doing but that’s the stock market. SCHD is a core position in my portfolio and, as long as I have confidence in the long term stock market, it will continue to be.
@NolanGouveia If you do the three fund portfolio and when you get to retirement do you put all your foundation and growth into SCHD or do you put some into JEPI/JEPQ? Or over time do you put more into SCHD? Also how do you do this in a Taxable vs tax advantage accounts?
No i am not moving away from SCHD, investing $500 every month
Portfolio SCHD-QQQM-VUG-VOO with 30% in SCHD over 1200 shares about to add to 2000. So far up $10,000+ Year over year
Im glad im diversifing very little damage to my tiny portfolio 😅😅😅
It’s actually a time to buy. That’s all.
I have a 25% of my brokerage account in SCHD. It has been very disappointing to own. I understand why it’s down but I should have invested elsewhere.
